Former teacher Sung Chu-king is a Cheung Chau native. After graduating\nfrom Northcote Training College, he worked as an English teacher at Tai\nA Chau and Siu A Chau Public School and Shui Hau School. From 1983\nto 1990, he served as the principal of Shui Hau School until its closure.\nDue to the long commute to the school, he lived in Shui Hau Village for\nsome time. Apart from teaching, he would often go with his students to\ncatch fish and crabs at Shui Hau Wan after school, and joined villagers\nin harvesting rice. During festive seasons, villagers would remind him\nto place bamboo baskets at the school gate, which they would fill with\ngifts such as chicken, taro and pineapples as a token of gratitude for his\ndedication to education.<\/span><\/div><\/span>

I am a Cheung Chau native born in 1943. I had a lot of \"firsts\" during my school years. After graduating from Cheung Chau Anglo-Chinese School, the school happened to launch its very first junior secondary programme, and I managed to get in. That meant I didn\u2019t have to travel to Hong Kong Island for secondary school. After I completed Form 3 and sitting the public exam, the school launched its first senior secondary programme, and I made it again. I even got a scholarship every year - thank God for that. Later on, I got into Northcote Training College (renamed Northcote College of Education in 1967), where I majored in Visual Arts and minored in English.<\/span><\/p><\/span>

Northcote was a pretty open-minded teacher training college. Students didn't have to wear uniforms. I really agreed with the school's philosophy: \u201cIf you still carry yourself like a student, how can you be a teacher?\u201d

\nI joined a one-year programme at Northcote in 1964. Each semester included a three-month teaching practicum at a primary school. The practicum was actually more important than the exams. Our tutors would come and observe how we taught and whether we had good classroom management. The principal would write up an evaluation. About a third of my classmates didn't make it to graduation. It wasn't easy. After finishing at Northcote, I spent a year teaching at a primary school. During that time, the Education Department (now the Education Bureau) would send their inspectors to observe our classes. You had to pass their inspection to qualify as a certified teacher.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/div>

\u6211\u55ba\u5927\u89d2\u5480\u4e00\u9593\u79c1\u6821\u6559\u904e\u5169\u5e74\u534a\u66f8\uff0c\u6708\u85aa\u597d\u9ad8\u3002\u5c0f\u5b78\u5206\u4e0a\u3001\u4e0b\u665d\u73ed\uff0c\u6559\u4e0a\u665d\u73ed\u6709600\u868a\uff0c\u517c\u6559\u4e0b\u665d\u73ed\u67091,000\u868a\uff0c\u53e6\u5916\u518d\u6559\u57cb\u591c\u6821\u5c31\u67091,300\u868a\u3002\u4f46\u79c1\u6821\u5514\u4f3c\u6d25\u8cbc\u5b78\u6821\u6309\u5e74\u8cc7\u52a0\u4eba\u5de5\uff0c\u7576\u6642\u55ba\u6c34\u53e3\u5b78\u6821\u6559\u66f8\u5605\u820a\u540c\u5b78\u60f3\u8fad\u8077\uff0c\u5c31\u8aaa\u670d\u6211\u8f49\u53bb\u6c34\u53e3\u5b78\u6821\u9802\u66ff\u4f62\u3002<\/p><\/span>

1967\u5e74\uff0c\u6211\u540c\u6642\u53bb\u5169\u9593\u96e2\u5cf6\u5c0f\u5b78\u6559\u82f1\u6587\uff0c\u505a\u300c\u9ede\u4e94\u6559\u5e2b\u300d\uff0c\u5373\u534a\u8077\u8001\u5e2b\u3002\u4e00\u661f\u671f\u6709\u5169\u65e5\u534a\u53bb\u6c34\u53e3\u5b78\u6821\uff0c\u5169\u65e5\u534a\u53bb\u5927\u5c0f\u9d09\u6d32\u516c\u7acb\u5b78\u6821\u3002\u7531\u9577\u6d32\u642d\u8239\u5230\u5927\u9d09\u6d32\u9700\u8981\u4e09\u500b\u9418\uff0c\u597d\u591a\u4f4f\u6e2f\u5cf6\u5605\u8001\u5e2b\u5514\u80af\u53bb\u6559\u3002\u6751\u9577\u517c\u6821\u76e3\u5433\u9326\u6cc9\u8a71\u6211\u4fc2\u9577\u6d32\u4eba\uff0c\u6371\u6163\u6c34\uff08\u8239\u7a0b\uff09\uff0c\u53eb\u6211\u62cd\u786c\u6a94\uff0c\u5514\u4fc2\u5c31\u7121\u4eba\u6559\u5230\u82f1\u6587\u3002\u6211\u7121\u6240\u8b02\u5c31\u61c9\u627f\u5497\u3002\u5169\u9593\u5c0f\u5b78\u5b78\u751f\u4eba\u6578\u90fd\u4fc250\u5e7e\u4eba\uff0c\u6709\u5572\u5b78\u751f\u5341\u5e7e\u6b72\u5148\u5165\u5b78\u3002<\/p><\/span>

\u6c34\u53e3\u5b78\u6821\u7b97\u597d\uff0c\u722d\u53d6\u5230\u8058\u8acb\u5169\u500b\u534a\u8001\u5e2b\u4f86\u6559\u66f8\uff0c\u4e0a\u665d\u73ed\u7531\u5e74\u7d00\u5927\u5605\u8001\u5e2b\u6559\uff0c\u4f62\u901a\u5e38\u55ba\u6c34\u53e3\u79df\u5c4b\u4f4f\u3002\u4e0b\u665d\u73ed\u5c31\u7531\u5e74\u8f15\u6559\u5e2b\u8ca0\u8cac\uff0c\u5341\u4e8c\u9ede\u534a\u5148\u8fd4\u5b78\u6821\uff0c\u53ef\u4ee5\u7793\u664f\u5572\u3002\u53e6\u5916\u534a\u500b\u8001\u5e2b\u591a\u6578\u6559\u82f1\u6587\uff0c\u56e0\u70ba\u7576\u6642\u82f1\u6587\u8001\u5e2b\u597d\u96e3\u8003\uff0c\u4eba\u6578\u53c8\u5c11\uff0c\u8001\u5e2b\u8981\u517c\u6559\u5169\u9593\u5b78\u6821\u3002\u7576\u6642\u5e7e\u500b\u8001\u5e2b\u5165\u9762\uff0c\u6211\u7b97\u6700\u5f8c\u751f\u30021969\u5e74\u6211\u517c\u4efb\u6821\u4e3b\u4efb\uff0c\u4e3b\u8981\u7747\u4f4f\u5b78\u6821\u76e4\u6578\uff08\u5e33\u76ee\uff09\uff0c\u61c9\u4ed8\u6559\u80b2\u7f72\u5be9\u8a08\u6bcf\u5e74\u67e5\u8a2a\u30021983\u5e749\u67081\u65e5\u6211\u51fa\u4efb\u6c34\u53e3\u5b78\u6821\u6821\u9577\uff0c\u4ea6\u4fc2\u6700\u5f8c\u4e00\u4efb\uff0c\u56e0\u70ba\u5b78\u751f\u4eba\u6578\u6108\u4f86\u6108\u5c11\uff0c\u5b78\u6821\u6700\u7d42\u55ba1989\u5e74\u505c\u8fa6\uff0c\u6211\u4ea6\u55ba1990\u5e741\u67083\u65e5\u5378\u4efb\u3002<\/p><\/span>

\u9109\u6751\u5b78\u6821\u540c\u5e02\u5340\u5b78\u6821\u5605\u5b78\u79d1\u3001\u66f8\u672c\u3001\u529f\u8ab2\u90fd\u4e00\u6a23\uff0c\u6700\u5927\u5206\u5225\u4fc2\u4e0a\u5802\u6642\u9593\uff0c\u6821\u4e3b\u4efb\u6216\u6821\u9577\u8981\u6839\u64da\u8fb2\u8015\u6642\u9593\u7de8\u6392\uff0c\u5c24\u5176\u9ad8\u5e74\u73ed\u5b78\u751f\u6210\u65e5\u8981\u505a\u7530\u52d9\uff0c\u6bcf\u5e74\u6536\u5272\u7a3b\u79be\u55f0\u5e7e\u65e5\u5b78\u6821\u5514\u6703\u4e0a\u5802\uff08\u5927\u7d04\u6bcf\u5e746\u6708\u5e95\u81f37 \u6708\u521d\uff0c\u53ca10\u6708\u4e0b\u65ec\u81f311\u6708\u4e0b\u65ec\u67d0\u4e9b\u65e5\u5b50\uff09\uff0c\u6211\u81ea\u5df1\u90fd\u6703\u843d\u7530\u5e6b\u6821\u76e3\u99ae\u6709\u6607\u5272\u79be\u3002<\/span><\/p><\/div>

\u521d\u6642\u53bb\u6c34\u53e3\u5b78\u6821\u6559\u66f8\uff0c\u6211\u9802\u5514\u9806\u5927\u5dbc\u5c71\u5df4\u58eb\u73ed\u6b21\u592a\u758f\u843d\uff0c\u597d\u5feb\u5c31\u8cb7\u79c1\u5bb6\u8eca\u7528\u3002\u6709\u4e00\u6bb5\u6642\u9593\u6211\u4f4f\u55ba\u6c34\u53e3\u6751\uff0c\u65b9\u4fbf\u8fd4\u5b78\u6821\u3002\u6211\u4fc2\u6751\u5165\u9762\u7b2c\u4e00\u500b\u8cb7\u9ed1\u767d\u96fb\u8996\u5605\u4eba\uff0c\u508d\u665a\u5b78\u751f\u6703\u805a\u57cb\u4e00\u9f4a\u7747\u96fb\u8996\uff0c\u96fb\u8996\u63a5\u6536\u5230\u4e5c\u4fe1\u865f\u6211\u54cb\u5c31\u7747\u4e5c\uff0c\u6700\u8a18\u5f97\u6709\u6fb3\u9580\u8cfd\u8eca\u3002\u6211\u540c\u6751\u6c11\u95dc\u4fc2\u5e7e\u597d\uff0c\u6709\u6b21\u6751\u9577\u63d0\u6211\u5c31\u5feb\u904e\u7bc0\uff0c\u6211\u4ee5\u70ba\u8981\u6272\u8377\u5305\uff08\u51fa\u9322\uff09\uff0c\u539f\u4f86\u4fc2\u53eb\u6211\u64fa\u5169\u500b\u7af9\u7c6e\u55ba\u5b78\u6821\u9580\u53e3\uff0c\u6751\u6c11\u6703\u9001\u5622\u7540\u6211\u3002\u8b6c\u5982\u8fb2\u66c6\u65b0\u5e74\u6709\u96de\u3001\u5e74\u7cd5\uff1b\u4e2d\u79cb\u7bc0\u6709\u828b\u982d\uff1b\u8fb2\u4f5c\u7269\u6536\u6210\u5b63\u7bc0\u6709\u83e0\u863f\u3001\u756a\u9b3c\u8354\u679d\uff08\u91cb\u8fe6\uff09\u3002\u6751\u6c11\u5c0d\u8001\u5e2b\u597d\u5230\u4e0d\u5f97\u4e86\uff0c\u5b78\u751f\u597d\u4e56\u3001\u7d14\u6a38\uff0c\u5bb6\u9577\u597d\u6ce8\u91cd\u4ed4\u5973\u5b78\u696d\u3002<\/p><\/span>

\u6211\u597d\u4f3c\u5927\u7d30\u8def\u5481\uff0c\u653e\u5b78\u5f8c\u8ddf\u5b78\u751f\u4e0a\u5c71\u6458\u91ce\u679c\u3001\u6349\u91d1\u9322\u9f9c\uff1b\u591c\u665a\u64d4\u4e00\u76de\u5927\u71c8\u53bb\u6c99\u7058\u6349\u87f9\u3001\u6349\u9b5a\uff0c\u5b78\u751f\u6559\u8b58\u6211\u597d\u591a\u751f\u7269\u3002\u6709\u6642\u6751\u4e2d\u6709\u6b7b\u96de\uff0c\u6211\u54cb\u6703\u651e\u53bb\u6c34\u53e3\u7063\u5605\u5927\u6d8c\uff0c\u7528\u5e7e\u56bf\u77f3\u7838\u4f4f\u4f62\uff0c\u591c\u665a\u5c31\u6703\u5f15\u4f86\u597d\u591a\u4e2d\u83ef\u7d68\u87af\u87f9\uff0c\u6211\u54cb\u5c31\u6349\u87f9\u8fd4\u5c4b\u4f01\u7172\u7ca5\uff0c\u6210\u7172\u7ca5\u90fd\u4fc2\u87f9\u818f\uff0c\u597d\u8c6a\u83ef\u3002\u6211\u53c8\u6703\u53bb\u4e0a\u74b0\u83dc\u7a2e\u884c\u8cb7\u9b5a\u85e4\uff0c\u5c07\u6839\u90e8\u63fc\u721b\u3001\u6d78\u6c34\uff0c\u7136\u5f8c\u540c\u5b78\u751f\u53bb\u6c34\u53e3\u83e0\u863f\u7530\u9ad8\u5730\uff0c\u5c07\u6d78\u6210\u4e73\u767d\u8272\u5605\u9b5a\u85e4\u6c34\u5012\u843d\u6cb3\uff0c\u5927\u6d8c\u5605\u5858\u8671\u3001\u5c71\u6591\u9b5a\u9047\u5230\u523a\u6fc0\uff0c\u6703\u5373\u6642\u6d6e\u51fa\u6c34\u9762\u5438\u65b0\u9bae\u7a7a\u6c23\uff0c\u6211\u54cb\u5c31\u8d81\u6a5f\u6355\u6349\u3002\u7b2c\u4e8c\u65e5\u671d\u65e9\uff0c\u4e0b\u6e38\u8fd1\u6ce5\u7058\u5605\u5751\u9c3b\uff08\u82b1\u9326\u9c54\uff09\u90fd\u6703\u6e38\u51fa\u4f86\u3002<\/p><\/span>

\u96e2\u958b\u6c34\u53e3\u5b78\u6821\u5f8c\uff0c\u6211\u53bb\u9577\u6d32\u5802\u9326\u6c5f\u5c0f\u5b78\u505a\u7f8e\u52de\u8001\u5e2b\uff0c\u5b78\u751f\u651e\u597d\u591a\u734e\u35ce\u3002\u6211\u9000\u4f11\u5f8c\u4e0d\u6642\u90fd\u6709\u8ddf\u5b78\u751f\u806f\u7d61\uff0c\u53bb\u6e2f\u5cf6\u3001\u9577\u6d32\u98f2\u8336\u654d\u820a\uff0c\u4f62\u54cb\u90fd\u5df2\u7d9370\u5e7e\u6b72\uff0c\u6709\u5572\u5df2\u7d93\u4e0a\u5497\u5929\u5802\u5566\u3002<\/span><\/p><\/div>
